Dune: Imperium offers players an immersive journey into Frank Herbert's iconic universe through deckbuilding and worker management, taking them deep into its intricate details. Players assume leadership of various factions competing to take control over Arrakis; it serves as the only repository of melange spice which gives psychic abilities as well as prolongs life expectancy - crucial ingredients in interstellar travel as well as for maintaining galactic empire stability.

Dune: Imperium develops its strategic tapestry over multiple rounds by following three distinct phases - Reveal, Agent and Reveal - each time around. Conflict cards contain information regarding rewards and penalties related to the Battle of Arrakis that await discovery during this step of play. As part of the Agents phase, players strategically place agents at key locations like cities, starports, High Council meetings or deserts - each location offering its own set of advantages from resources to cards to influence and combat power. At this final card reveal phase, players reveal and use the final decks they drafted as cards to solve conflicts or use additional effects generated from selected cards or locations. When one of four paths of influence reaches its zenith point resulting in victory points accumulated to decide the ultimate victor, this phase ends.
