Scrapnaut stands out among other survival sandbox games with its innovative concept: its hero must battle for survival in an open world using steampunk imagery to protect himself against steam robots, explore surrounding area and wear an oxygen tank on his back to monitor air level; the adventurer can alter their appearance through clothing changes as part of his battle for life in Scrapnaut's steampunk world setting.

Scrapnaut features traditional crafting as part of its genre. In order to produce unique items, players need to visit specific biomes and gain resources there - like minerals from mines or trees with an axe; there is even a shovel available when searching for treasure. Once equipped with materials needed for weapon making and armor forming, players are free to improve them and make new weapons and armor from them while increasing safety margins on tools or weapons used; there may even be the option of getting hold of large robots for transport purposes instead!
