The Excavation of Hob's Barrow is an atmospheric adventure set against Victorian England's countryside on its peripheries, where Thomasina Bateman, an antique hunter specializing in ancient treasures, must unravel Hobs Mound. Along her path lies Bjulay Village where Thomasina encounters various strange characters who will help her unmask Hob's Mound's mysteries and find its treasure.

The game places great emphasis on characters and storytelling, weaving the dark history with English folklore into its fabric. You must solve many puzzles to interact with local residents or read notes that contain information regarding events happening elsewhere within England - using classic point-and-click gameplay with puzzles involving attention, logic and interaction with their environment - in this classic point-and-click experience.

Characters found here range from everyday villagers, noble farmers and very strange clergymen, all striving for different goals. You must use your deduction skills to discover who's lying and who's telling the truth by collecting clues and evidence around you - each hero has an engaging narrative which must be thoroughly examined before proceeding further with any investigations in Bewlay wilderness.
