The Foretold: Westmark Legacy follows the adventures of a paranormal investigator. His name is Herbert Westmark. He also collects various strange trinkets. The hero arrived in the gloomy town of Burrmouth, where people began to disappear. He needs to find the reason for the mysterious disappearance of townspeople. The protagonist is accompanied by a parasitic demon named Ambrose. The main character, as he progresses, collects and writes down information in a notebook, which reveals the lore and helps to better understand the backstory. The game is made in a gothic setting. The atmosphere and plot were inspired by the work of horror writer H. P. Lovecraft.

Enemies are represented by various monsters. Battles with them take place step-by-step. Fights contain elements of puzzles. The battles have a high level of difficulty.
