Open The Gates! is a real-time strategy game with 2D hand-drawn graphics and city building sim elements. The indie title differs from many representatives of the RTS genre in its camera angle. It is always located on the side here. A casual side-scroller made in a medieval setting. In the story, the emperor loses control of his kingdom. The king instructs the player to reclaim the land for him. The user becomes the owner of the castle and starts a war. The campaign is divided into levels that open sequentially. The selection of stages (there are 26 in total) takes place on the global map. Locations differ in biomes and complexity. There are snow-capped mountains, arid deserts, green fields, volcanic craters and other places. There is also a siege mode consisting of 12 missions.

In the game Open the Gate! there is construction. The gamer is rebuilding a citadel. Inside it, he can build hospitals, prisons, residential buildings, hotels, sawmills, factories and other buildings. The user needs to properly allocate resources. He must provide virtual people with food. We are talking not only about civilians, but about soldiers. The more varied their diet, the happier they will be. Here you also need to fight rats and crime by hiring rat catchers and building security posts accordingly. You also need to fight and storm enemy fortresses. You can create siege weapons such as catapults, ladders and mobile towers. In addition, different types of units are available - from executioners to cavalry. There are also airships here.
