Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Amnesia: The Dark Descent's main character awakens in an old castle to discover something remarkable: before sleeping he consumed an amnesia potion which will now cause him to forget everything that happened previously. He does so to ease severe mental wounds caused by severe mental traumas but this results in summoning dark spirits who follow and haunt their victim, including past Daniel with one final request - to go down into the basement of Castle Brennenburg to murder Alexander of Brennenburg!

Time is running short in this survival simulator with indie horror elements; therefore we must quickly make all decisions to survive and progress through the story. Solving puzzles and logic problems takes up most of your mental energy while others require intelligence as you uncover objects throughout. Graphically speaking, this game adheres to previous works from its developers with plenty of atmosphere-creating objects placed strategically for maximum immersion; they did not dare add "strong" musical components that may alter this atmosphere too drastically.

Daniel, an exceptional archaeologist, travels by chance to Algeria in order to find and investigate an unidentified artifact from one of its tombs; instead however, concrete slabs collapse beneath him destroying any chance he had of finding anything, leaving only enough strength in him for finding "The Sphere." This artifact gives characters a visual outlook - giving them an accurate perspective of everything that's happening around them. After using it, its inner workings reveal itself, offering up special insights. After this event has transpired, the main character emerges from his tomb and the leader of the expedition returns him safely back to London. Once awake in his homeland, the protagonist discovers that their expedition's leader and its members had vanished into thin air; their pieces no longer connected by any thread of continuity; nightmares have ensued until finally seeking help at his local clinic - where restoration begins in earnest.
