Mortal Kombat 1 is the latest installment in NetherRealm Studios's award-winning Mortal Kombat video game franchise, created with updated versions of iconic heroes sporting new looks while offering improved combat systems, game modes, and Fatalities of various varieties and types. A unique gameplay experience awaits players.

Cinematic and engaging story mode explores the origins and relationships among various fighters across time periods. It features several characters such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Kitana Mileena & Kung Lao in its premiere trailer - red eclipse of sun showing them fighting alongside each other - alongside more iconic moments that transpire between each timeline. The trailer also indicates that Scorpion and Sub-Zero may no longer be eternal enemies, suggesting that past rivalries and alliances may no longer apply due to NetherRealm Studios rewriting canon. Furthermore, Shang Tsung will make an appearance as a fighting character. Kameo Fighters will give users access to six other absolutely unique fighters. Furthermore, thanks to an innovative mechanic within Kameo Fighters that was not previously available, many alternative variations of well-known characters with distinct features and appearance will become accessible - for instance Jean-Claude Van Damme is known for stepping into Johnny Cage's shoes and saving battles as part of that persona!
