Heartworm

Heartworm combines classic survival horror elements with psychological thriller elements. A girl named Sam lives an isolated lifestyle at her home and doesn't leave much. From its outset, Heartworm makes clear that Sam experienced difficulties during childhood which contributed to mental problems as an adult. One day however, Sam receives an odd videotape which awakens her senses akin to deja vu moments, leading her to new places, with similar problems present there too.

Heartworm evokes Resident Evil and Silent Hill with graphics stylized after console games of the late 20th century, using low resolution and polygon counts in its visual style to simulate old school gameplay. An independent project, Heartworm provides classic gameplay experience.

Even though this game features third-person view, its camera remains fixed while still offering different perspectives and angles, often following our heroine as she navigates between screens within one room. Our girl protagonist explores an abandoned city marked with posters asking her to recall something important while searching for items which might help solve puzzles and give text comments when she interacts with environment; details regarding backstory come through notes, diaries and documents she collects along her travels.
