update details
Paramnesia is both a visual novel and part-time interactive book in one. Although short in duration, its replayability more than makes up for this shortcoming. The narrative unfolds not chronologically but rather in fragmented memories which may or may not be accurate; players need to piece them back together while trying to identify truth from fiction in order to reconstruct events themselves; often making decisions which affect events directly as players explore distorted memories with special programs moving them from outside to center grid.
Paramnesia translates as self-memory loss. The story revolves around Mary as she attempts to understand herself better. There are three possible endings and only one should be considered true as Mary has become part of two radical sects at once. Religion-inspired conflicts abound; beliefs held by one religious faction clash with those held by another faction and vice versa. The plot unfolds over 6 different stages: Confession allows you to view everything through the eyes of protagonist, while Etude presents everything from an objective third person point-of-view. "Database" offers players information about sectarians. SMS messages sent from religious fanatics to our heroine can also be read here. Furthermore, there are additional encrypted files whose access opens under certain conditions during passage.
