Loretta is a visual novel in which you have to take on an unexpected perspective by becoming an accomplice to a crime. The main character is a girl named Laura. Together with her you will need to go through a real nightmare. The game is made in the genre of psychological thriller. Loretta's gameplay is based on choices. Any decision made affects the further development of the story. The protagonist is an ambiguous person, so it’s up to the players to decide what she should do in a given situation.

The central themes of the story are betrayal, marital fidelity and the social attitudes of America in the 40s. The visual style is inspired by film noir and precisionism, particularly the work of Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper. There are references and allusions to Reflective Skin, Days of the Harvest, Lolita and other films. Complete freedom of choice allows you to see one of several endings to the story.

In the story, in 1947, Loretta and Walter Harris move out of town. The husband is a writer and the wife is a housewife. The family is in a financial hole. Things are getting worse every day. Loretta begins to suspect that Walter not only owes $30,000 to shady people, but is also cheating on her. However, the girl also learns that in the event of her husband's death, she is entitled to a payment from the publishing house due to her husband's life insurance. From this moment on, the heroine has a plan that the player has to implement.
