The story takes place in the lands of the High Kingdom of Aerowana, where seers have studied the legends of a powerful force believed to be the source of life. This force was nicknamed Gan, but in modern times it is called "Divinia". The Ancestors tried to use Gan as a weapon, giving birth to Gan-ti and Anti-Life.

They began to pour artifacts into the Gan-ti, as a result of which the High Kings began to hold the entire kingdom in an iron fist. An uprising created by the Order of the Guardians broke out. They managed to throw Gan-ti into the fire pits off the coast of Orio Island. Peace reigned for a long time until an eruption began, which could once again release the power of black magic.
