The narrative centers around the despotic rule of the goddess Amaterasu and her disciple, Empress Himiko. The two tyrannize feudal Japan with the help of their formidable army of yokai. The last ray of hope lies in the hands of two siblings, Kensei and Ayame, who have honed their fighting skills over the years with the sole goal of defeating the goddess. Their mission? Infiltrate the imperial capital of Osaka and steal three sacred treasures, which are the source of the ruler's power.

A unique mechanic for changing characters in real time is implemented here. Users control the samurai Kensei in close combat situations while wielding his deadly katana. However, Kensei's skill set has one limitation - he cannot jump. Ayame, on the other hand, is an agile kunoichi, capable of attacking from a distance and maneuvering on vertical levels. Balancing the strengths and weaknesses of these heroes is key to gameplay.
