update details
Ratty Catty is based on the classic hide and seek concept where you can become Catty the cat or Ratty the rat. The Rat's goal is to get out of his safe zone, the hole where he lives with his family, steal food from the kitchen and feed the kids. On the other hand, Katie lurks around every corner, ready to pounce, and wins when Katie is caught. It features real-time physics, a fully interactive house, and numerous tools to achieve the Rat and Cat's goals, giving the game an exciting twist.
However, the execution of the game raises questions. The environments, while clever in theory, are repeated across just two small maps. The house has only one floor, and the map of the Zen garden lacks detail. In addition, the project suffers from glitches. The Rat's face often crashes into the food it is carrying, and objects sometimes appear through walls or float in the air. The character models and graphics leave much to be desired. Gameplay in Ratty Catty is also hampered by glitches, especially in the AI options. Katie's AI focuses on only one Rat, even if there are multiple Rat in a match, and will often attack her allies without warning. Weapons for Katie are scattered throughout the house, and Katie uses spray cans to move around the map and various rat holes to evade Katie. Despite the problems, playing with friends adds some value to the game. However, the shortcomings and glitches that hinder the game cast a shadow on the overall experience. By all accounts, the arcade game sets its sights on many things, but ultimately falls short of its mark. It has potential, but a lot can be improved to make the game more fun and enjoyable.
