Surviving the Abyss is a sci-fi city builder. The events shown in it unfold in an alternative dimension. The action takes place in 1976 on Earth. In this video game, the user is the head of a research center that is hidden under water. The scientific base is studying the technology of human cloning. The scientists living there also conduct genetic experiments on the local fauna. The player needs to develop and protect the scientific complex, as well as take care of the staff. Buildings need electricity, and employees need food and oxygen. The concept of the title is similar to Aquatico. And in terms of gameplay, it resembles Frostpunk. Only here, instead of heat and cold, other mechanics are involved.

In the game Survival in the Abyss, you need to extract and distribute resources, build objects, conduct technological research, establish infrastructure, study locations, catch underwater creatures, collect plants, participate in various events and make fateful decisions. The map has uneven terrain. It is possible to build vertical structures on it. It is possible to create outposts and build research submarines. To expand your territory, you need to install lighting poles. These lanterns not only disperse the darkness, but also scare away especially dangerous inhabitants of the water depths. Turning off the lights can lead to the appearance of monsters and disaster.
