update details
Starsector is a single-player adventure with a procedurally generated world. Previously, the project had the name Starfarer, but the developers decided to change it. Before starting the passage, the user will join one of the seven factions, remain on his own or play the role of a mercenary. The story takes place in the year 3126, when human technology allows faster-than-light travel using transport gates. The possibility of such travel was called the cosmic golden age.
Over 200 cycles ago, the gate stopped functioning, causing people to return back to the Dark Ages. This disaster was called the “collapse.” The main character remained in a sector with many other factions that had seized power and reached a strategic barrier. None of the factions is able to win, they only fight among themselves. At the start of the passage, the user will enter quick training missions. The user will choose the main weapons and receive a small fleet of ships for personal use. After training, access to complete freedom of action opens.
The gamer freely travels through endless space, controls a starship or puts it on autopilot. Colonies help you purchase useful materials or sell excess items. The player is able to hire new crew members, and each minor character has their own skills, characteristics and role. There are few story elements in the gameplay, and instead you have to create an original story. While exploring the world, the voiceover will reveal the secrets and knowledge of the in-game universe.
