Road 96: Mile 0 is an adventure with a strong emphasis on storytelling and characters. The project acts as a prequel to the original game, telling an incredible story of friendship between completely different people. The plot centers on Zoe and Kaito. At first glance, they are people from completely different worlds, but they have much more in common than they themselves think. Road 96: Mile 0 takes place in a small town called White Sands. Kaito's parents serve in the home of the Petrian elite. The prequel story gives more details about Zoe's past and makes it clear why Zoe ran away from her parents' home. The prequel allows you to look at Petria from a completely different angle.

Mechanics are built around exploration, contemplation and so-called musical stages. They are dynamic races on a variety of tracks built within the White Sands. Through music and a strong narrative, players are immersed in the emotional inner world of Zoe and Kaito. There are many interactive tracks, including various psychedelic locations. To progress through the story, you need to reach the finish line within a certain time. Transport options include rollerblades and skateboards. The heroes are able to jump, dodge obstacles, and at some point they will also have to make fateful decisions that affect the plot.
