update details
The quest Gone Home presents the story in an unusual way. We play as Caitlin Greenbriar. She lived in Europe for a year and decided to return to her homeland. Late at night, a 20-year-old girl arrives at her home and discovers a sign on the door asking her not to enter. The protagonist goes inside and finds that no one is inside. The action takes place in 1995.
A young woman has to find out what happened to her family. Kate will reconstruct the picture of what happened with the help of her younger sister's diary, notes, postcards, crumpled pieces of paper, etc. The personal belongings of the missing residents also provide clues. You can also listen to recordings on your answering machine. They help to understand a lot about the personalities of relatives.
Gone Home features a first-person view with the ability to zoom in on the camera. The project is quite short. It can be completed in a couple of hours. There is only one level here. The map is limited to the territory of a large building with a bunch of rooms. But thanks to the high level of interactivity, the heroine can interact with a large number of objects in the room.
Gameplay consists of walking around rooms and exploring things. There is a kitchen, an attic, a hall, toilets, bedrooms, a study, a library and other places. A map helps you avoid getting lost. Everywhere you can find clues for an interactive investigation. The girl can pick up almost any object and examine it from all sides, rotating the thing in any direction. There are no classic riddles here, and the game does not rush the user anywhere. There are also no jump scares, action moments or dialogue between characters. It's essentially a "walking simulator".
