Monstrum is a horror film set in the open ocean on a cargo ship. The main feature is that all holds, compartments and item locations are generated randomly. The game can be described as contemplative horror, where there is no direct confrontation with the enemy. The hero is pursued by three different monsters. Since there is no way to fight them off, you need to run and hide all the time.

Adding to the complexity is that the game procedurally generates levels each time, so there is no way to remember a map of the ship's gloomy premises. The quest items needed to complete will always be located in new places. As well as the opportunity to hide from pursuers. The protagonist will have to manipulate the attention of monsters, distract them and try to outwit them. The main thing is to act carefully, otherwise he himself may fall into a dangerous trap.

From the arsenal, the hero has an inventory of 6 slots. As you play, it increases to 10 slots. The protagonist is pursued by three types of opponents: a hunter, a ghost Fiend and a giant glowing monster Brutus. It also happens that you meet only one enemy on the way. The main goal in Monstrum is to find all the tools to repair the ship. The most hardcore element of the gameplay is that the hero has exactly one life. If you die, then a new adventure begins with a new game. Since the level generator is triggered, the subsequent passage will not be a repetition of the path traveled and will give a new experience.
