The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is the next project in a large series, which in turn continues the events of another equally large series. Here, users will meet the already familiar Lloyd Bennings and Riena Schwartz, between whom they can switch thanks to the innovation of the system. Moreover, a new character will appear on the scene - the so-called Figure "C", whose identity remains secret. Crossbell finally gained independence, but the ceremony was interrupted by Rufus Albaria, who escaped from prison and now wants to regain control of the territory. The main characters' task is to prevent him from doing this.

Gameplay in The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is based on role-playing mechanics that involve leveling up characters and increasing the team's overall power level. Moreover, the squad can be replenished by meeting and winning over new recruits. Each unit appears in a random location, and its skill set is also randomly generated. You can experience everything in battle, when the parties seem to be transported to the arena and separated from the outside world. Everything happens in a step-by-step mode, and you can calculate in advance the sequence of attacks and which targets are best to inflict them on. At the same time, all attacks are accompanied by colorful animations when characters strike with swords or use magic. And after the battle is over, the system displays statistics on the screen, showing the amount of experience gained and the overall score for the battle. The plot component, although it fades into the background due to the serious stakes on the action, still allows you to better understand what is happening and get to know those inhabitants of the world who until now remained in the shadows.
